A graduate of Doane University, Joel Bramhall currently serves as the Director of Education for the Myriad Gardens in downtown Oklahoma City. As the only botanic garden to host an active public school, Joel developed a one-of-a-kind experiential enrichment program, Garden Groundbreakers. The innovative curriculum encourages inner city students to expand their curiosity about the natural surroundings, fosters excitement about healthy living, and prepares the next generation to become resilient environmental stewards.
Raised on a family farm in southeast Nebraska, Joel learned firsthand the value of growing and producing sustainably. As an educator, he inspired collegiate and secondary scholars in active citizenship, while earning acclaim for community outreach projects. Now serving an urban metro of nearly 1.4 million, Joel organizes and emcees the state’s premier horticultural symposium, Oklahoma Gardening School. In addition, he coordinates the annual Tree For All event, which provides local residents with 1,500 saplings. Furthermore, Joel directs over 155 plant-based workshops annually.
